About
Dolphin Point Beach is a picturesque stretch of coastline just south of Ulladulla on the New South Wales South Coast. The beach is backed by a residential area but maintains a natural, unspoiled feel thanks to its surrounding headlands and native coastal vegetation.
The northern end of the beach offers good protection from southerly winds, making it popular with local families, while the southern section near the rocky platform provides excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for drummer and bream. During winter and spring, the headland serves as an ideal vantage point for whale watching, with migrating humpbacks often spotted close to shore.
The beach offers good surfing conditions, especially when a southerly swell is running, though swimmers should be cautious of rips that can form along the rocks. The rock platform at the southern end becomes a fascinating place to explore during low tide, with rock pools revealing a variety of marine life.
While the beach is accessible from several residential streets in Dolphin Point, visitors should note that surf conditions can be hazardous as this is an unpatrolled beach. The area's natural beauty and relative quiet make it a favorite spot for locals seeking to avoid the busier beaches closer to Ulladulla.
