White Cliffs Beach
K'gari, Queensland
About
White Cliffs Beach on K'gari's western coast is a tranquil, sheltered stretch of sand easily accessible from the Kingfisher Bay ferry terminal. Unlike the island's wild eastern beaches, this western shoreline offers calmer waters protected from the Pacific Ocean's surf, making it ideal for gentle swimming and kayaking.
True to its name, the beach features distinctive white clay cliffs that contrast beautifully with the deep blues of the Great Sandy Strait and the lush green vegetation above. The shallow waters of the strait create interesting patterns at low tide, when small sandbars emerge and tiny crabs scuttle across the exposed sand.
The beach's proximity to Kingfisher Bay Resort makes it an ideal spot for day visitors arriving by ferry who want to experience K'gari's natural beauty without venturing too far. The clear, shallow waters provide good opportunities for spotting marine life, particularly during incoming tides when fish swim close to shore.
As with all beaches on K'gari, visitors should be mindful of dingoes and follow local safety guidelines, including walking in groups and keeping children close by.
