Thousand Steps Beach
California, United States
About
One Thousand Steps Beach (1000 Steps Beach), is a narrow beach below cliffs on East Mesa bluffs. The 146 worn concrete stairs, which were originally constructed in the 1920s, show their age. There used to be 150, but the sea has washed the last few away. The steps look intimidating when compared to the newer stairwell at neighbouring Mesa Steps Beach.
While this beach isn’t as popular as Thousand Steps Beach in Laguna, it is a lot quieter. At high tide this beach is inaccessible so make sure you time your trip appropriately.
